You’re looking at events for professional development in DSC.
Events here are intended for DSC staff, but are open to the wider RMIT University where space permits. Events are organised on a monthly cycle, with new events added and old events repeating each month. Each event is cross listed into HR’s Learning Development Portal for those who are using that system to record their professional development.
If your program teaching team require professional development on something specific or at a more convenient time for the team, feel free to make a request here.

Shut Up and Wiki!
November 1, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Wikipedia reaches a massive, global readership. Contributing enables you to achieve a uniquely massive public impact.
‘Shut up and Wiki’ is an informal community of practice where you can devote time to editing, writing, and developing Wiki resources. We spend most of the session time editing our own projects, with a short break mid-way to chat with our fellow editors. We’ve been meeting since March 2018 on the first Friday of each month. We use the hashtag #shutupandWiki on Twitter.
No prior experience is necessary! A Wiki expert will be on hand to teach the platform and answer queries. Optionally, we recommend:
- Sign up for an account (1-2 minutes)
- Read this tutorial
- List of resources for getting started prepared by our University of Melbourne Library colleagues – on notability, verifiable content, reliability of sources, plagiarism and more topics.
For 2019, the group will meet on the FIRST FRIDAY of each month (March-December) at 1-2pm in La Trobe’s Bundoora Library, Level 2 (Research Commons) – Vizlab. BYO laptop.
How do I join?
Just turn up! You can come in person, or join us remotely via this Zoom Meeting link.
