Last year, DSC launched “Incite/Insight”, a learning and teaching forum for disseminating good practice, enabling scholarly conversation and sparking ideas. The forum has continued this year, targeting VE and HE teaching staff and focuses on inspiring teaching.
On October 18th 2017 over 30 staff came to discuss what online engagement means in their teaching contexts. Offering insights into their practice, the discussion was led by Anitra Nottingham, Online Director with the Academy of Art University (AcademyArt.edu) and Joyce Seitzinger, Learning Experience Architect with RMIT Online.
Lots of topics were discussed including setting up courses for maximum engagement, digital presence and dealing with online silence. Of particular interest were an exploration of where the synergies are between online and blended contexts, and how you can convey responsiveness and define expectations in online environments with a the lack of gesture and talk.
Below are Joyce and Anitra’s the recording and presentations of the event
