Did you know RMIT is part of a global network enabling international online learning and teaching collaboration? For the last 10 years the State University of New York (SUNY) has been running a program linking collaboration activities between a network of international universities. The Centre for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) is running its 10th anniversary conference in New York on Monday 25 April – Tuesday 26 April next week. Lisa Dethridge and I will be attending to find opportunities for furthering RMIT’s global collaborations. RMIT already runs collaborations with the SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology. There has previously been a collaborative course on Transhumanism that Lisa co-taught, enabling collaborations between RMIT media and communications students, and computer science students from the SUNY Oswego campus.

SUNY itself has a wide network of campuses and participants in the program and there are many universities world wide taking part. You can check out some of the examples of recent courses from both the SUNY and international networks here.

The conference will be webcast for free for anyone who wants to participate at a distance. I will be tweeting with #sunycoil. If you are interested to start a conversation about possible course partnerships with one of the SUNY campuses, or another of the COIL international partners, please contact Lisa Dethridge or Howard Errey.
