Andy Mabbett gave a presentation on Wikidata last week. 26 people attended, representing a range of organisations and interest areas. Wikimedia Australia sponsored the event with $200 toward catering.
Given Andy’s current interest in Public Art, we have been trying to raise the interest of staff at the Public Art program, as well as in Architecture – given their 2015 project to engage Wikipedia and author pages about designers from Victoria who are female. An academic at the University of Wollongong has made contact asking for assistance in developing an honours level research project involving Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. More to come.
We didn’t manage to organise a suitable recording of the talk. All that was taken was an audio recording of Andy’s talk using a phone in the audience. Andy went on to visit Wikimedia Indonesia and they manage to make a series of video recordings of Andy’s talk.
